Getting the wrong size is the most common issue people have when ordering jerseys online. Sizes vary between brands, between fan and player versions, and even between different seasons of the same team. Here is how to get it right the first time.
Know Your Measurements First
Grab a soft measuring tape and measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape level and snug but not tight. That number in inches or centimeters is your starting point. If you do not have a tape, take a shirt that fits you well, lay it flat, and measure from armpit to armpit. Multiply by two for the chest circumference. Write that number down.
Player Version vs Fan Version Sizing
Player version jerseys are cut slim. They are designed to fit like what the pros wear on the pitch ? tapered waist, tighter sleeves, athletic fit. If you normally wear a medium in a regular t-shirt, a player version medium will feel noticeably snug. Many people go one size up for player version jerseys unless they want that tight, athletic look.
Fan version jerseys have a more relaxed cut. They are closer to a standard t-shirt fit. If you order your normal size in a fan version jersey, it will fit about the same as a regular shirt. Not baggy, not tight ? just comfortable.
Check the Size Chart for Each Jersey
Different clubs use different manufacturers and different templates. A size M from a Nike-made jersey might fit differently than a size M from an Adidas-made one. Each product page on JerseyLab has a size chart specific to that jersey. Do not skip it. Compare the chart measurements to your own chest measurement.
When In Doubt, Size Up
A jersey that is slightly loose is wearable. A jersey that is too tight is not. If you fall between sizes on the chart, pick the larger one. This is especially true for player version jerseys and for anyone who plans to wear a layer underneath.
Common Sizing Questions
Do jerseys shrink? Minimal shrinkage if you wash cold and air dry. A dryer will shrink polyester jerseys, so avoid it.
Are kids sizes different? Yes. Kids jerseys use age-based sizing and run smaller in the chest and length. Check the kids size chart separately.
